The Recipe How-To

Get ready for an explosion of flavor in every bite
Get ready for an explosion of flavor in every bite

Now, let’s dive into the recipe how-to. This recipe requires some preparation steps, but trust me, it’s worth it. Here are the steps to create a tantalizing dulce de leche mocha ice cream dessert:

Step 1: Make the Pecan Crust

To make the pecan crust, you will need to melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a pan and mix it with 2 cups of graham cracker crumbs, 1/4 cup of brown sugar, and 1 cup of finely chopped pecans. Mix well until the ingredients are combined, and press this mixture into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes at 350°F.

Step 2: Make the Mocha Fudge Sauce

In a large saucepan over medium-low heat, combine 1 can (14 oz) of sweetened condensed milk, 1 cup of heavy cream, and 1/2 cup of chocolate chips. Stir until the chocolate chips have melted completely and all three ingredients have turned into a creamy sauce. Add 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter and continue stirring until it thickens and becomes glossy. Remove from heat when you achieve the desired consistency.

Step 3: Create Layers with Ice Cream and Dulce de Leche

Next, soften 1 pint of coffee ice cream and one pint of Dulce de Leche ice cream by leaving them out at room temperature for about 10 minutes. Spread half of each flavor over the baked pecan crust in alternating layers. Then place spoonfuls of dulce de leche over the ice cream layers to create another layer. Pour half of your mocha fudge sauce over everything.

Step 4: Create More Layers!

Place another round of both Pecan Butter Graham Cracker Crust on top again, reserving some Pecan Butter Graham Cracker Crust for topping. This layer creates a barrier so that our ice cream does not melt during the decoration process.

Step 5: Decorate and Freeze!

After spreading another layer of coffee ice cream followed by Dulce de leche ice cream, begin decorating with chocolate cake crumbles, whipped cream, more mocha fudge sauce and drizzle 1/2 cup dulce de leche all over the cake. Keep in mind, this could get messy so have fun with it! Don’t be afraid to let your creativity shine.

Finally, sprinkle some crumbled graham crackers and chopped pecans over the top of your creation. Cover the pan with plastic wrap and freeze for at least 3 hours before serving.

That’s it! Your dulce de leche mocha ice cream dessert is ready to tantalize your guests’ taste buds. Enjoy!

Tips for Perfect Results

Impress your dinner guests with this show-stopping dish

Making ice cream cakes or pies that require multiple layers can be a bit intimidating. But fear not, dear dessert lover, as I share with you some of my tried and true tips for perfect results every time!

Firstly, when making the crust for your ice cream pie or cake, it’s important to use enough butter to make it hold together. I recommend using about 6 tablespoons of melted butter for every 1 1/2 cups of crushed graham crackers or cookies. This will ensure that the crust stays put when serving and won’t crumble apart.

Secondly, when layering the dessert, it’s a good idea to freeze each layer before adding the next one. This will help prevent the layers from mixing together, resulting in a more visually appealing dessert.

Another helpful tip is to invest in a good quality ice cream maker. While you can certainly make homemade ice cream without one, an ice cream maker allows for a thicker and creamier texture. It also makes the process much easier and efficient.

When making a caramel or fudge sauce for drizzling over your dessert, be sure to let it cool slightly before using. If it’s too hot, it may melt your ice cream layers and cause them to become soupy.

Lastly, if you want to get creative with decorating your dessert, try incorporating some chopped pecans or sprinkles into the top layer. This adds some texture and color to the finished product and makes for a beautiful presentation.

By following these tips and tricks, you’ll be well on your way to creating a show-stopping dulce de leche mocha ice cream dessert!
