When it comes to pairing this dish, I recommend serving it with warm tortillas or crusty bread. The bread will soak up the delicious broth, while the tortillas are perfect for dipping. You can also serve some avocado slices on the side or enjoy the soup with some roasted vegetables.

If you’re looking for a pairing beverage, I suggest beer or a refreshing margarita. The cold and bitter taste of beer complements the soup’s mildly flavored broth, while a margarita adds a tangy twist that goes well with the lime juice in the soup.

Make-Ahead, Storing and Reheating

The ultimate comfort food for chilly nights

This soup is perfect for making ahead and storing for later consumption. It can be refrigerated for up to three or four days, so if you’re planning on enjoying it sometime throughout your week, you can certainly prepare it in advance. Once you’ve made the soup, allow it to cool before transferring it into an airtight container. The containers can then be stored in the fridge for later use.

When reheating your stored soup, use a pot or pan with a lid; you might need to add some additional water as the noodles tend to absorb quite a bit of the broth, causing the soup to thicken over time. Heat on low and stir occasionally until warmed through.

If you want to freeze your sopa de fideo, portion it into individual-sized containers for convenience. The noodles might become mushy after reheating from frozen, but that shouldn’t affect the taste of the soup.

When storing sopa de fideo in the freezer, take caution not to overfill your storage containers as the contents will expand slightly as they freeze. When you’re ready to eat your frozen soup, thaw it overnight in the refrigerator before reheating on medium heat until warmed through.

The beauty of this easy-to-make soup recipe is that it’s just as delicious whether freshly-made or leftover. And by making a double batch at once, you’ll have plenty of comforting Mexican soup everyone’s sure to love!

Tips for Perfect Results

To achieve the perfect results when making Sopa de Fideo, there are a few tips that can be helpful. The first one is to lightly toast the noodles before cooking them. This step is important because it will give them a slightly nutty flavor and help them hold their shape during the cooking process.

Secondly, for a more authentic flavor, use plum tomatoes instead of canned tomato sauce. Peel and seed the tomatoes, then chop them finely. If you can’t find fresh tomatoes, look for canned ones that are of good quality and have no added sugar or preservatives.

Thirdly, if you want to add some protein to your soup, brown some raw chicken before adding it to the soup base. This will give your soup an extra dimension of flavor and texture.

Fourthly, don’t overcook the noodles or let them become mushy. When adding them to the soup pot, make sure to simmer them for only 10-12 minutes until they are tender but still have a slight bite.

Fifthly, for a burst of freshness and color, add a generous handful of chopped cilantro right before serving. This will complement the flavors in the soup and add another layer of complexity.

Finally, if you prefer thinner noodles in your soup, substitute angel hair pasta or thin spaghetti for the fideo noodles. This will give your soup a lighter texture while still keeping all the delicious flavors intact.

By following these tips, you’ll be able to create an authentic and comforting Mexican noodle soup that everyone in your family will love!
